Blackawton Bees is second most downloaded paper

The Royal Society announced recently that our Blackawton Bees paper was the second most downloaded paper from its Biology Letters journal during 2011.

Blackawton Bees, published by the Royal Society  in December 2010, it was the first ever peer-reviewed scientific paper published in a top journal reporting a truly unique finding, in which all 25 authors were primary school children. All 25 children contributed to the resulting paper, complete with figures that are hand drawn in crayon. The paper is deliberately written in ‘kids' speak', and begins ‘Once upon a time…'

The publication of the paper was widely reported in the mainstream press, both in the UK and abroad. You can read some of the reports here
